Sumudu Prasadini and Vinu Siriwardana’s never ending sadness about who really suits to be Miss Sri Lanka for Miss World 2012 still continues.

 In an interview for the Mawbima newspaper she said that she’s not sad she didn’t get to represent Miss SL for Miss World, but she’s happy she at least got to go for Miss International.

She also stated that she doesn’t think Sumudu was selected apart from her due to a miscalculation, The only thing Sumudu has more than me is her height nevertheless I’m much more qualified than her.

Looks like the little jealous devil is popping out of Vinu. According to an insider Vinu who boasts about her qualifications just only has a regular external IT Diploma.

In fact this whole drama occurred because of Derana Veet Miss Sri Lanka’s sloppy organizing skills. Or else the girls would have kept their differences outside the media, one can say that how Vinu feels about Sumudu is fair, who would like a prestige title to be robbed away from them.

Udayanthi Fan’s Won’t Give A Break

Udayanthi was silent for a long time, and now she’s back again .The reason for her silence has been Dewinda Konagaha’s latest movie in which she’d been shooting for seven months.

Sarsaviya newspaper has made her feel that fans can be annoying if they get a phone number, she claimed that she had to switch her phone off because the newspaper had published her birthday details along with her contact number and she’s been getting continuous calls even in the middle of the night.( c’mon people give the woman a break) or in other words the prize to pay for popularity.

Questioned about, the main role she plays in the gossip world she said that she’s lucky to be the gossip diva as not everyone gets the chance to be talked about and she takes it positively.

She’s produced a tele drama, and as she says she had the money so she tried the producing industry, there’s nothing wrong with it. (Yep I agree with her too but, ability and talent plays a part too.)

Her drama has been approved but is holding back 80 tele’s although she says she’s not in a hurry.

Gayan Wickramathilaka seems to be changing his appearance for the mere fact that his frequent appearances in tele dramas may harm his career or make him look too boring.

When questioned about the current actor/ producer trend he stated that he’s notices, regardless of talent if you have the money and if you want to be popular then the best thing is to produce your own tele drama and act as the main character.

Well Gayan I agree with you, because all the recent teledramas have been a chaos, models and novice actresses and actors produce third grade dramas poisoning the industry, In other words if you have the money you can play the game.

Pushpika Loses Role Hamamali

Miss Sri Lanka Pushpika Sandamali was recently seen in the opening ceremony of an upcoming movie depicting the ongoing trend of historical movies, Siri Dalada Gamanaya.

However the beauty queen was not so welcome by the producers and directors as she’d been kicked off the main role as Hemamali. In an interview done by the Meewitha Magazine, According to Pushpika’s side of the story she claims that she had to participate for the opening ceremony, before even reading or accepting the contract, the person in charge (name not specified) told her to participate for the op. ceremony and pose to the media. Later on she had been receiving anonymous calls and further that person in charge claimed that he too had been receiving prank and anonymous calls, there fore he had to remove her from her main role.

 Push also stated that a monk was against the fact of appointing her as the main role, probably because of her title Miss Sri Lanka and the fact that she has to pose in, let’s call this un suitable outfits, She also states that the monk has nominated two other actresses for her robbed role Hemamali.

She has her rights to press charges as she hasn’t got any compensation from the producers.

Well lets see what happens to Beautiful Push and lets see if the film will be as successful without the beauty queen, because after all sometimes beauty counts.

Saranga Says Ask Nehara

Actor, announcer and soon to be singer Saranga Dissasekara says he has no clue as to why Nehara didn’t pose for a photograph with him after he and nehara both won the Most Popular actor and actress titles. He further states according to his statistics Nehara has stated in a newspaper that she has had some really important work to do and that’s why she has left the awarding ceremony as soon as she received her award. 

Let’s hope that this was Nehara’s honest truth and not any other fact bothering her, you know what I mean.

Back again about Saranga, he denied the rumors these days about him linking popular actresses, he added that rumors will keep on spreading and its best to ignore them however he’s really disappointed about the lies that people can multiply.

Suminda Weerasinghe Passed Away

Prominent cinematographer Suminda Weerasinghe has passed away today (19). It is reported that Weerasinghe had been working on a new movie titled ‘Dalada Gamanaya’ in Anuradhapura when he had died during a film shoot. A spokesman of the Anuradhapura Hospital said he was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. Suminda Weerasinghe, who was the chief cameraman in the 1983 movie ‘Arunata Pera,’ has operated as chief cameraman in 11 movies and had was Presidential Awards for four films including Arunata Pera, Sihina Deshayen, Dehena and Pauru Walalu. In addition he was the chief cameraman in popular Sinhala movies such as Gini Avi saha Gini Keli, Kinihiriya Mal and Alimankada.

Man Arrested Abandoning son in a Trishaw

The father of a one-year-old child, found abandoned inside a three-wheeler last evening, has been arrested in the Yatiyantota area over the incident. The 22-year-old man was arrested following inquiries conducted by the Yatiyantota Police, which had also uncovered that the child’s mother is currently employed abroad. The suspect is to be produced at Ruwanwella Magistrate’s Court today (19).

Sri Lankan Office Cougar, Jeevani Wickramaratna Preyed On Married Men, Jailed For Sexual Harassment

A self-proclaimed ‘office cougar’ has been jailed for sexual harassment after spreading lies and rumours about her male colleagues.

Cambridge graduate Jeevani Wickramaratna, 44, targeted one victim at an electronics firm where she worked, claiming to be having an affair with him.

She emailed his wife about the fictitious relationship and even pretended he was HIV positive.

After moving to another firm, she falsely reported another colleague to bosses for harassing her.

A court heard that Wickramaratna’s first victim was co-worker Paul Stokes.

The software engineer became infatuated with him and started writing to him after he offered her some birthday cake.

Christine Hart, prosecuting, said: ‘She claimed Mr Stokes was having an affair with the office cougar [an older woman who prefers younger men], and many of the messages were sexually explicit and caused great distress to both him and his family.

‘Wickramaratna then began sending him a series of messages saying she was setting him free and said she had told his family about their affair and that he loved her.’

Further abusive Facebook messages were sent, including a false allegation that Mr Stokes had been diagnosed with HIV.

The court heard Mr Stokes had never had an affair with the defendant. He later reported her to police. In a statement to the court, Mr Stokes said she had put him and his wife ‘through hell’ and her persistent communications had caused considerable stress.

He said: ‘The hurtful stories she concocted from her deranged imagination became more and more aggressive and led me to fear for the safety of my wife and children.’

He said the threat of harassment continued and he felt he had to check his house at night.

Miss Hart said: ‘The police contacted Wickramaratna telling her not to contact Mr Stokes but she wrote back revealing explicit details of their affair that she believed had taken place and referred to herself as the cougar.’

6 persons Arrested for Forging Documents

The police have arrested one suspect from the Thalawinna area in Katugasthota in connection with a racket engaged in compiling forged documents. Police stated that five other suspects have also been arrested in connection with the racket.

The primary suspect was apprehended following a special raid conducted by the crimes unit of the Central Province DIG office while five other including a woman was arrested in connection to the operation as well.

Police seized a large number of forged property deeds, educational qualifications, passports and national identity cards from the main suspect during the time of his arrest.

Furthermore, police seized a computer used for the operations as well as other equipment during the raid.

Investigations revealed that the racket had been in operation for several years.

The site of the shooting which occurred last evening (June 15) at a JVP rally held in the Katuwana area in Hambantota. Two persons including a female were killed and one person was injured when a group of individuals on motorbikes had opened fire at the location yesterday, police stated.
